Hi,
I’m Herbert Neuwirth, a visual artist working with photography, video and conceptual art.
After decades in television, radio, video production and journalism, I know how images shape what we see, and what we fail to see.
My work often begins with something familiar: a shadow, a toy, a frozen object, a body or an everyday product. I shift its context, function or logic until something unexpected emerges. Humour, contradiction and a sense of unease are recurring elements.
I’m interested in the moment when the ordinary slips slightly out of place — and begins to ask questions.
